Unique Stays along the Draa Valley

Curated Stays along the Draa Valley — A Handpicked Selection

The Draa Valley is home to 300 Berber villages made entirely of raw earth and mud bricks, creating a fairy-tale landscape along the green date palms. This region is one of Morocco’s most spectacular, and it was once the path of trans-Saharan caravans from the north to Timbuktu, especially between the 13th and 16th centuries.

Aside from its rich historical heritage, the valley offers a rare luxury: authenticity. It’s a place where ancient Jewish and Berber communities, medieval Islamic libraries, and shrines to desert saints coexist. The further south you go, the more this magical landscape captured my heart.

I´ve traveled to the Draa Valley several times, designing my own route and personally selecting all the accommodations. I worked with a local travel agency for logistical support, mainly transportation.
