A true hidden gem in Essaouira
I’m here to share great stories and separate the hidden gems from the noise. Some of the links in this article are affiliate links—if you book through them, it won’t cost you anything extra, but it helps give this project a little boost (kind of like buying it a coffee, but way more exciting)
Thanks for the support! Now, let’s dive into this incredible place…
A Design Lover’s Dream in Essaouira
This house perfectly embodies the free-spirited, laid-back vibes of this corner of Morocco.
Design lovers, architects, and interior designers—if Morocco wasn’t already a paradise of aesthetics and craftsmanship, Essaouira has just welcomed another space that will captivate even the most discerning eye.
When I arrived, Abdel from Casa.b Mogador was waiting for me at the bus station, ready to whisk me away on a motorcycle—an arrival that couldn’t have been more fitting for the essence of Essaouira. This small detail, among many others, is what makes Casa.b stand out, earning it a well-deserved spot in my top 10 places to stay in Morocco.
Keep reading for a glimpse into its history and a visual tour of this one-of-a-kind retreat.

Timeless Elegance in the Heart of Essaouira
Tucked away in the medina, this spectacular 18th-century house seamlessly blends historic charm with modern design.
The b. stands for Bilic, the French family behind this beautiful space—I had the pleasure of meeting them, and they couldn’t be lovelier. It also stands for blanco, reflecting the house’s luminous, serene atmosphere, truly a home away from home. And finally, b. is for boutique, because Casa.b is intimate, soulful, and perfectly located.
A Haven of Style and Comfort
Every corner of this house is beautifully designed and decorated, making it almost impossible to leave—if not for the irresistible charm of Essaouira itself. And the breakfasts? Simply wonderful.
Arriving in Essaouira in the heart of winter feels like stepping into an eternal summer with its mild, perfect temperatures. And Casa.b Mogador is the ideal place to experience it.
A Home That Welcomes You
I’ve intentionally mixed photos from different areas of the house because if you ever visit Essaouira, I want you to experience this space in person—it’s one of those places that truly embraces you.
The property features two beautiful terraces: one lush with plants and another on the rooftop with sun loungers and stunning views over the medina. Inside, you’ll find three inviting lounges, a bar, and a library.
Now, let’s take a look at the suites.
Design, Comfort, and Style
Casa.b Mogador offers six stunning suites, with more on the way—something I happily discovered during my stay (you know I love exploring every corner when I fall for a place). Ranging from 30 to 40 square meters, each suite is a haven for design lovers, featuring pieces like the Spanish Chair by Børge Mogensen, the Knoll Saarinen Tulip Table, and the Eames Rocking Chair.
The bathrooms? A perfect 10—spacious, beautifully designed, and with those high-pressure showers I can’t get enough of.
A Perfect Fusion of Sustainability and Elegance
Casa.b Mogador is a prime example of the evolution of tourism, offering a truly unique destination. Its owners, Frédérique and Jérôme Bilic, personify the essence of eco-friendly travel. Their commitment to sustainability is evident in the use of eco-conscious materials, the careful preservation of the original structure, and the craftsmanship that brought the building back to life.
Every detail has been thoughtfully curated, avoiding shortcuts and mass-produced solutions. The carefully chosen mix of classic designer furniture goes beyond style—it’s a conscious decision to minimize environmental impact by reusing the finest vintage pieces from Europe and Morocco, collected over two decades. Eames chairs, traditional banquettes, and Koran tables blend seamlessly in the space, creating a harmonious atmosphere.
A Culinary Experience Like No Other
As I’ve mentioned, food is at the heart of Casa.b Mogador’s philosophy. With a keen attention to detail and a true passion for French and Moroccan cuisine, you’ll savor homemade jams in unique flavors like tomato and vanilla, apricot, lavender, and strawberry with mint.
Indulge in Moroccan artisanal honeys, local soft cheeses, olive and argan oils, traditional Moroccan bread, and fresh seasonal fruit. Enjoy aromatic teas, rich coffee, or hot chocolate, along with freshly squeezed juices—lemon, orange, or grapefruit.
For a special touch, Casa.b’s chef can arrange picnics or prepare a delicious dinner upon request.
More Unique Stays in Morocco
Casa.b Mogador is an absolutely recommended choice. Abdel, the manager and heart of the house, is delightful—always ready to assist and full of kindness and smiles. The family has known him for years, and now they collaborate together. And as you’ve seen, the space is simply incredible.
